How to enable AWS Compute Optimizer Service

AWS Compute Optimizer is a service that analyzes the configuration and utilization metrics of your AWS resources & It reports whether your resources are optimal or not.

IMP Note: It will take 12 hours to fetch the service data and recommendations after enabling the Compute Optimizer service.

Steps to enable AWS Compute Optimizer Service

Step1: Login to AWS Console.

Step2: Search “AWS Compute Optimizer” Service

Step3: Click on Get started to Analyze your resources

Step4: Read the Acknowledgements carefully, then click on Account Opt-In

Step5: Check the Default Dashboard view

Step6: Click on Rightsizing, which appears on the left side under Preferences.

Step7: To change the Rightsizing default preferences, click on Edit

Step7.1: Choose Regional Scope According to Any Specific Region or Custom Regions, and click on the Next button.

Step7.2: Under the section Preferred EC2 Instances, choose Any Instance Type or Limit to specific instance types and sizes on the basis of requirement and click on the Next Button.

Step7.3: Choose Loopback period and metrics [Lookback period is 14 days default]

Step7.4: Check Threshold values, change them on the basis of requirements, and click on the Next button.

Step7.5: Review and save the preferences by clicking on the Save Preferences button.
