Introduction

This guide covers the process of adding a Linux Metrics Agent by fulfilling prerequisites, installing the agent, and configuring it for dashboard visibility. To enable Linux system monitoring, you need to install the CloudNetra monitoring agent on the target machine. This agent will help monitor key system parameters such as CPU usage, RAM consumption, storage, and network utilization.

Steps to Add a Linux Agent

Step 1: Navigate to the Integration Section

  1. From the left-side panel, click on Metrics to navigate to the Metrics page. The default Add Integration tab will be selected.

Step 2: Expand the Operating System Section and Select Linux Agent

  1. Click on the Operating System section to expand it, revealing a list of available OS agents, including Linux.

  2. Click on the Linux agent option to open the Linux Agent page, which contains instructions on how to install and configure the agent.

Step 3: Follow Remote Agent Prerequisites

  1. Expand the Remote Agent Prerequisites section by clicking on it.

  2. Follow the instructions to ensure that all system prerequisites are met before proceeding to installation.

Step 4: Follow Remote Agent Configuration

  1. Expand the Remote Agent Configuration section by clicking on it.

  2. This section contains step-by-step commands that need to be executed on the server.

  3. Copy and paste each command into your terminal and execute them in the given order to configure the agent.

Step 5: Execute Remote Agent Installation Commands

  1. Expand the Remote Agent Installation section.

  2. This section contains step-by-step commands that need to be executed on the remote Linux server.

    1. Get the Host ID (Machine ID)

    2. Use the retrieved Host ID in the Add Host section.

    3. You can:

      1. Select an Existing Host. OR

      2. Enter the Host ID manually.

    4. Click on the Add Host button to add the host.

    5. Once the Host ID is added, the system generates an installation script specific to the host. Copy and paste command into your terminal and execute them in the given script to install the agent.

The script will automatically detect the server architecture and install the appropriate version of the agent.

Step 5: Configure and Install the Dashboard

Enhance your Linux system monitoring with CloudNetra’s comprehensive Metrics Dashboards and Alert Rules. These tools offer superior visualization and proactive alerting for optimized performance and resource management.

  1. Once all installation commands have been successfully executed, expand the Configure and Install Dashboard section.

  2. Click on the Install Dashboard button to complete the installation process.

Step 6: Verify Installation

  1. After a successful installation, a confirmation message will be displayed.

  2. Navigate to the Metrics Dashboard page (Click on the Dashboard then select or click on the Metrics Dashboard tab), where you should now see the newly installed Linux agent in the Linux Dashboard section or card.
